Kubernetes on Azure for a SaaS company

We moved a growing SaaS application from one manually managed server to Azure Kubernetes Service, with zero-downtime deploys.

01

The challenge

  • Manual deployments over SSH, with downtime
  • No staging environment to test changes
  • One server was a single point of failure
  • No clear view of errors, load or costs
02

What we delivered

  • Dockerfiles for each service and a private container registry
  • AKS cluster defined as infrastructure as code
  • CI/CD pipeline: test, build, scan and deploy on every merge
  • Separate staging and production with automatic rollbacks
  • Managed database with automated backups and restore tests
  • Monitoring, logging and alerts, with dashboards for errors and costs
03

How we delivered

We migrated step by step: containerised first, ran staging on AKS, then moved production during a planned window with a tested rollback plan. Afterwards the team received documentation and a handover session.
